GATE CE Online Application Deadline Extended! The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering or popularly known as GATE is an Entrance exam that serves as a gateway for all Engineering aspirants to fulfill their dream of getting a Master's Degree or getting into leading PSUs. The GATE Exam is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordination Board-GATE under the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development. Candidates must know every minute of information related to the exam like exam pattern, exam date, eligibility, previous year cut-off marks, and so on. The prior information will make your pace forward to success in the upcoming GATE Civil Engineer Exam 2022.

  • GATE CE Exam 2022 will be conducted to screen the candidates for the most reputed educational institutes of India i.e IIT, NIT, etc.
  • The notification for the same was released on 10th August 2021.
  • The GATE is a Computer-based examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in Engineering and Science.

GATE CE Apply Online Process 2022

Direct Link to Apply for GATE CE Exam 2022

Step 1: Go to the official website of GATE, and reach the GATE CE registration page.

Step 2: Candidates must register themselves by filling up the necessary information as a new user.

Step 3: Save your Registration ID and password for future reference.

Step 4: Log in with the Registration ID and password.

Step 5: Fill up important details.

Step 6: Candidates must upload their recent photograph and signature.

Step 7: Submit your application form.

Step 8: Proceed for payment of application fees.

Step 9: Alternatively, you can also find the link on the GATE Official Website.

Step 10: Candidates will find a link that says, “GOAPS is open now! “

Step 11: Follow the above steps carefully!

Important Points Related To The GATE CE Application Process 2022

  • Prefix/title such as Mr/Shri/Dr/Mrs/Smt/Prof/Capt/Maj/Lt/Col., etc. MUST NOT be used.
  • Once you click on the “Submit button and Proceed to Payment” button, NO further changes can be made in the application form. So, ensure all the details are correct.
  • A person with Disability (PwD) / Dyslexic candidate has the option of availing scribe assistance during the GATE 2022 examination.
  • A passport size (3.5 cm Width × 4.5 cm Height) photograph in color with white background is required for the GATE Application Form. 
  • Draw a rectangular box of size 2 cm × 7 cm (Height × Width) on an A4 sized white paper and sign with black/dark blue ink pen within this box. The signature should occupy 70~80% of the box size. The file size should fall between 10 kB (minimum) to 200 kB (maximum).
  • Once the candidate has filled the application form, they have to upload the scanned copy of the photograph, signature, and category certificate (if applicable) as per the specifications of the exam authority.

  • GATE application forms will be scrutinized for the accuracy of the data, which includes uploaded copies of supporting documents, clarity of the photograph, and signature. If everything is as per the guidelines, then the application form will be accepted.
  • The defects found in the GATE application will be marked and intimated to the candidate for rectification, which has to be rectified within the stipulated given time. The intimation will be done via e-mail and/or SMS mentioned by the candidate in the application form.

GATE CE Selection Process 2022 

The candidates will have to appear for a competitive exam. Then the admission cutoff will be released by various reputed universities and PSUs. Candidates will have to fill the forms of these colleges prior. The GATE CE exam is only a 1 stage exam. Successful candidates equal to the number of seats will be admitted. There shall be no interview. Hence the candidates will only have to undergo a written exam.

GATE CE Eligibility Criteria 2022

Eligibility criteria are a very prime factor every candidate must cross-check before applying for the exam. Board has set education qualification eligibility for all the streams examination. Read the information below to know about the age criteria and educational qualifications required for the exam.

Age Criteria for GATE CE 2022

There is absolutely no age limit in GATE. Candidates from any age group can apply for the GATE CE 2022 exam.

Nationality

The applicant must be an Indian citizen. Foreign candidates can also apply for the exam but they need to fulfill the required eligibility criteria. 

  • A foreign candidate must have completed or in the final year or in the pre-final year of their bachelor’s degree in engineering and technology or
  • Must have completed or in the final year or in the pre-final year of their Post Graduate degree in any relevant science subject

Educational Qualifications

Candidates who have obtained/are pursuing their qualifying degree from outside India must be currently in the 3rd year or higher years or completed their Bachelor’s degree in their field of Engineering / Technology / Science / Arts / Commerce. GATE CE Syllabus 2022

GATE Civil Engineering Syllabus is divided usually into 7 parts. Those seven sections of the GATE Civil Engineering syllabus have been further subdivided into several sub-sections. The various topics of each section of the GATE CE syllabus 2022 are given below. For each topic, there is a section-wise detailed syllabus. Please understand the syllabus thoroughly and align your preparation plan accordingly. You should learn all the sub-topics and avoid skipping any of them, as there’s plenty of time for GATE 2022.

  • Calculus: Functions of a single variable; Limit, continuity, and differentiability; Mean value theorems, local maxima, and minima; Taylor series; Evaluation of definite and indefinite integrals, application of definite integral to obtain area and volume; Partial derivatives; Total derivative; Gradient, Divergence and Curl, Vector identities; Directional derivatives; Line, Surface, and Volume integrals.
  • Ordinary Differential Equation (ODE): First order (linear and nonlinear) equations; higher order linear equations with constant coefficients; Euler-Cauchy equations; initial and boundary value problems.
  • Partial Differential Equation (PDE): Fourier series; separation of variables; solutions of- dimensional diffusion equation; first and second-order one-dimensional wave equation and two- dimensional Laplace equation.
  • Probability and Statistics: Sampling theorems; Conditional probability; Descriptive statistics – Mean, median, mode and standard deviation; Random Variables – Discrete and Continuous, Poisson and Normal Distribution; Linear regression.
  • Numerical Methods: Error analysis. Numerical solutions of linear and non-linear algebraic equations; Newton’s and Lagrange polynomials; numerical differentiation; Integration by trapezoidal and Simpson’s rule; single and multi-step methods for first-order differential equations.

Structural Engineering:

  • Engineering Mechanics: System of forces, free-body diagrams, equilibrium equations; Internal forces in structures; Frictions and its applications; Centre of mass; Free Vibrations of undamped SDOF system.
  • Solid Mechanics: Bending moment and shear force in statically determinate beams; Simple stress and strain relationships; Simple bending theory, flexural and shear stresses, shear center; Uniform torsion, Transformation of stress; buckling of column, combined and direct bending stresses.
  • Structural Analysis: Statically determinate and indeterminate structures by force/ energy methods; Method of superposition; Analysis of trusses, arches, beams, cables, and frames; Displacement methods: Slope deflection and moment distribution methods; Influence lines; Stiffness and flexibility methods of structural analysis.

  • Soil Mechanics: Three-phase system and phase relationships, index properties; Unified and Indian standard soil classification system; Permeability – one-dimensional flow, Seepage through soils – two – dimensional flow, flow nets, uplift pressure, piping, capillarity, seepage force; Principle of effective stress and quicksand condition; Compaction of soils; One- dimensional consolidation, time rate of consolidation; Shear Strength, Mohr’s circle, effective and total shear strength parameters, Stress-Strain characteristics of clays and sand; Stress paths.
  • Foundation Engineering: Subsurface investigations – Drilling boreholes, sampling, plate load test, standard penetration, and cone penetration tests; Earth pressure theories – Rankine and Coulomb; Stability of slopes – Finite and infinite slopes, Bishop’s method; Stress distribution in soils – Boussinesq’s theory; Pressure bulbs, Shallow foundations – Terzaghi’s and Meyerhof’s bearing capacity theories, the effect of the water table; Combined footing and raft foundation; Contact pressure; Settlement analysis in sands and clays; Deep foundations – dynamic and static formulae, Axial load capacity of piles in sands and clays, pile load test, pile under lateral loading, pile group efficiency, negative skin friction.

Water Resources Engineering:

  • Fluid Mechanics: Properties of fluids, fluid statics; Continuity, momentum and energy equations and their applications; Potential flow, Laminar, and turbulent flow; Flow in pipes, pipe networks; Concept of boundary layer and its growth; Concept of lift and drag.
  • Hydraulics: Forces on immersed bodies; Flow measurement in channels and pipes; Dimensional analysis and hydraulic similitude; Channel Hydraulics – Energy-depth relationships, specific energy, critical flow, hydraulic jump, uniform flow, gradually varied flow and water surface profiles.
  • Hydrology: Hydrologic cycle, precipitation, evaporation, evapotranspiration, watershed, infiltration, unit hydrographs, hydrograph analysis, reservoir capacity, flood estimation, and routing, surface run-off models, groundwater hydrology – steady state well hydraulics and aquifers; Application of Darcy’s Law.
  • Irrigation: Types of irrigation systems and methods; Crop water requirements – Duty, delta, evapo-transpiration; Gravity Dams and Spillways; Lined and unlined canals, Design of weirs on a permeable foundation; cross drainage structures.

Environmental Engineering:

  • Water and Waste Water Quality and Treatment: Basics of water quality standards – Physical, chemical, and biological parameters; Water quality index; Unit processes and operations; Water requirement; Water distribution system; Drinking water treatment. Sewerage system design, the quantity of domestic wastewater, primary and secondary treatment. Effluent discharge standards; Sludge disposal; Reuse of treated sewage for different applications
  • Air Pollution: Types of pollutants, their sources and impacts, air pollution control, air quality standards, Air Quality Index, and limits.

Transportation Engineering:

  • Transportation Infrastructure: Geometric design of highways – cross-sectional elements, sight distances, horizontal and vertical alignments. Geometric,design of railway Track – Speed and Cant. Concept of airport runway length, calculations, and corrections; taxiway and exit taxiway design.
  • Highway Pavements: Highway materials – desirable properties and tests; Desirable properties of bituminous paving mixes; Design factors for flexible and rigid pavements; Design of flexible and rigid pavement using IRC codes

Traffic Engineering: 

  • Traffic studies on flow and speed, peak hour factor, accident study, statistical analysis of traffic data; Microscopic and macroscopic parameters of traffic flow, fundamental relationships; Traffic signs; Signal design by Webster’s method; Types of intersections; Highway capacity.

Geomatics Engineering:

  • Principles of surveying; Errors and their adjustment; Maps – scale, coordinate system; Distance and angle measurement – Levelling and trigonometric leveling; Traversing and triangulation survey; Total station; Horizontal and vertical curves. Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing – Scale, flying height; Basics of remote sensing and GIS.

GATE CE Exam Pattern 2022

The GATE exam is conducted online for all streams. It is a Computer Based test in which multiple-choice questions will be asked by the authority. The exam will have a mix of NAT (Numerical Answer Type), MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions), MSQ (Multiple Select Questions). GATE 2022 admit card will be made available to download. Candidates could either click on the direct link given below or follow the steps mentioned below to download the GATE Hall Ticket 2022.

GATE CE Cut Off 2022

The exam conducting body will release the GATE CE cut-off 2022 marks once the exam is concluded. Cut-off marks are the minimum amount of marks that the candidates need to attain to move forward in the selection process. The cutoff marks vary each year depending on various factors, such as the number of applicants, the number of seats, previous year cut-off, etc. There is never a significant difference in the cut-off marks if compared to the previous years. The candidates can refer to the last year’s cut-off to get an idea about their chances of getting in.

GATE CE Answer Key 2022

The exam conducting body will release the official answer keys for GATE 2022 (all papers) at its official website.
